The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cautioned its officials and members at state and ward levels against imposing revalidation requirements on current party members during the ongoing membership registration process.
According to a statement by Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the national publicity secretary, the PDP received reports from certain states indicating that existing party members were being asked to revalidate their membership as part of the current registration of new members.
Ologunagba clarified that the membership drive aims solely to offer an opportunity for eligible Nigerians eager to join the party. He emphasized that the rights and privileges of existing members remain unchanged and are not impacted by the ongoing registration efforts.
The PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) stressed that existing members are not expected or required to undergo revalidation. They urged all party members, particularly at the ward level, to adhere to these directives and collaborate to strengthen the party for future challenges.
The statement also acknowledged the significant influx of new members joining the PDP nationwide and urged unity among members to fortify the party’s position.
