CAF selects Ghanaian referee Daniel Laryea and South African officials to oversee crucial Nigeria vs Morocco AFCON 2025 semi-final clash.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially appointed a Ghanaian referee and South African officials to oversee the highly anticipated 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semi-final clash between Nigeria and Morocco.

According to CAF’s officiating list released ahead of the encounter, Ghana’s Daniel Nii Ayi Laryea will serve as the centre referee for the crucial fixture, reflecting the continental body’s commitment to neutrality and experience at this decisive stage of the tournament.

Laryea, who has handled several high-profile international matches across Africa, will be supported by South African match officials, including assistant referees and Video Assistant Referee (VAR) personnel, ensuring technical balance and strict adherence to the Laws of the Game.

The semi-final match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Atlas Lions of Morocco is expected to be fiercely contested, given the history and rivalry between both sides in recent AFCON tournaments.

Nigeria booked their place in the semi-finals after an impressive run that showcased tactical discipline and attacking resilience, while hosts Morocco have continued to enjoy strong home support and consistent performances throughout the competition.

CAF’s appointment of officials from different African regions is seen as a strategic move to minimize controversy and guarantee fairness in what many analysts have described as a “final before the final.”

The winner of the Nigeria vs Morocco clash will advance to the AFCON 2025 final, bringing them one step closer to continental glory.
