Abuja, Nigeria – In a significant move to bolster the efficiency of traditional leadership within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has presented official vehicles to newly installed chiefs. The vehicles are part of the administration’s efforts to enhance the mobility and operational capacity of the traditional rulers in their respective domains.
Speaking on behalf of the FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike, the Mandate Secretary of the Area Councils Services Secretariat, Hon. Bitrus Lawrence Garki, reiterated the administration’s commitment to the welfare of the FCT’s traditional institutions. He highlighted that the provision of these vehicles is a testament to the administration’s dedication to ensuring that the traditional rulers are adequately supported in their roles.
“The vehicles are meant to improve the chiefs’ ability to carry out their responsibilities effectively,” Hon. Garki stated, urging the Royal Fathers to maintain the vehicles diligently. He also emphasized that the vehicles would be reclaimed by the Secretariat if any of the chiefs resigns, is removed, or passes away.
The chiefs who benefited from this initiative include the Royal Fathers of Kwali, Yaba, and Karu Chiefdoms. This gesture is expected to enhance the chiefs’ ability to fulfill their duties and serve their communities more effectively.
