South African Club Confirms Mutual Contract Termination After Goalkeeper’s Request
Chippa United have officially terminated the contract of Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali following the conclusion of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The South African club confirmed that the decision was taken after Nwabali formally requested to leave, with both parties agreeing to an amicable termination of his deal. This brings an end to the goalkeeper’s stay with the Eastern Cape-based side.
Nwabali joined Chippa United in 2022 from Nigeria Professional Football League outfit Katsina United and quickly established himself as a regular starter. His consistent performances at club level paved the way for his rise in the Super Eagles, where he emerged as Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper during recent international competitions.
The contract termination comes amid increased transfer interest in the Nigerian international following his impressive displays at AFCON 2025. Reports suggest that several clubs across South Africa and beyond are monitoring his situation ahead of a possible move.
Despite his club exit, Nwabali remains a key figure in the Super Eagles squad as attention now shifts to his next destination in his professional career.
