Residents Flee Magarau Village as Armed Bandits Loot Homes and Kill Key Leaders
Residents of Magarau village in Sabon Birni Local Government Area, Sokoto State, have fled their homes after a violent attack by armed bandits. During the raid, the assailants reportedly killed the village head, the chief imam, and the leader of the local vigilante group, leaving the community in shock.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers, allegedly linked to notorious criminal Bello Turji, looted homes and destroyed property before escaping. The assault has left Magarau virtually deserted, with residents abandoning their homes for safety.
Footage shared by security analysts shows damaged buildings and empty compounds, highlighting the devastation caused by the attack. This incident underscores the growing insecurity in northern Nigeria, where bandit raids continue to displace communities and disrupt local life.
Local residents are calling for urgent government intervention and increased security presence to prevent further attacks and restore peace in the area.
