Several Nigerian soldiers are feared dead following a Boko Haram attack on a military base in Jakana, Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State, on Friday, February 6, 2026. Local sources reported that insurgents stormed the base, firing in all directions and using explosives to overwhelm the soldiers.
Eyewitnesses said military vehicles and armored tanks were destroyed, and ammunition was seized by the attackers. Many soldiers reportedly fled into nearby bush areas, while some of the casualties’ bodies were transferred to the 7 Division Military Hospital in Maiduguri for identification.
