Anti-corruption agency intensifies search as investigation links FCTA official to alleged fake UniPort and NYSC certificates.
A senior official of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Anita Anurika Odom, is reportedly under investigation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over allegations of certificate forgery.
The anti-corruption agency has reportedly been making efforts to arrest Odom in connection with claims that she used forged academic credentials to secure employment in the FCTA. However, she allegedly evaded arrest when operatives attempted to apprehend her in Imo State.
Investigations indicate that Odom, a Grade Level 13 officer working with the Abuja Geographic Information Systems (AGIS), allegedly obtained her position in 2009 using questionable academic documents submitted during the recruitment process.
According to findings by investigators, verification requests sent to the University of Port Harcourt revealed that although Odom was once a student of the institution between 2000 and 2007, the university stated that she did not graduate and had exceeded the maximum residency period while still owing courses.
Further checks with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) reportedly showed that the certificate of national service she presented during employment verification was not issued by the scheme, as the call-up number and certificate details could not be found in its official records.
Based on these findings, the ICPC is said to have filed charges against the FCTA official before a High Court in the Federal Capital Territory over the alleged offences. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
