Applications Close April 30 as ECOWAS Seeks Qualified Candidates Across West Africa
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has officially commenced its 2026 recruitment exercise, inviting qualified citizens from member states, including Nigeria, to apply for over 30 available positions across its institutions.
In a notice published on its official website on Thursday, the regional bloc stated that the recruitment drive is part of efforts to strengthen the implementation of its sectoral programmes across key institutions.

According to the announcement, several positions are available in Nigeria, particularly in Abuja.
These include Office Aide, Programme Assistant, Nurse, Protocol Assistant, Documentation and Archives Assistant, Office Manager (Bilingual Secretary), Junior Accountant (Disbursements), Accountant roles, Legal Officers, Political Advisor, Principal Officer positions, Registrar roles, Head of Division (Library and Documentation), and Head of Hansard.
In addition to roles within Nigeria, ECOWAS is also recruiting for positions in other locations, including Administrative and Finance Officer in Addis Ababa; PPO (Sports Policy) in Liberia; Principal Programme Officer (Water Supply and Sanitation) in Conakry; as well as various legal and administrative roles in Dakar.
The organisation outlined specific age requirements depending on the job category. Applicants for General Services or Support positions (G1–G7) must not exceed 35 years, while those applying for Professional roles (P1–P7) must be under 45 years. Director-level applicants (D1–D2) are required to be below 50 years of age.
ECOWAS also encouraged female candidates to apply, noting that only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.
Applicants are required to download and complete the official application form, attach a curriculum vitae and a motivation letter, and submit them via the designated email addresses before the deadline.
The organisation emphasized that all applications must include the required documents, warning that incomplete submissions will not be considered.
The deadline for all applications is April 30, 2026.
ECOWAS further warned that it does not charge any fees for its recruitment process and cautioned applicants against fraudulent requests for payment or personal financial information.
