President Tinubu Extends Tenures of NAN MD Ali Mohammed Ali and NTA DG Abdulhamid Dembos for Another Three Years
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the renewal of the tenure of two key media executives, extending the appointments of the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Malam Ali Mohammed Ali, and the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Abdulhamid Salihu Dembos, for another three-year term.
The development was disclosed on Sunday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a statement issued in Abuja.
Ali and Dembos were initially appointed by President Tinubu in October 2023, with their renewed tenure expected to commence upon the expiration of their current terms.
Ali, a veteran journalist and media administrator, has led NAN through a period of significant transformation in Nigeria’s rapidly evolving media landscape, particularly with the growing importance of digital journalism and online news platforms.
Dembos, also a seasoned media professional, has served as NTA Director-General, overseeing the nation’s foremost public television network and its expanding digital broadcasting operations.
President Tinubu, according to the statement, urged both executives to continue justifying the confidence placed in them by remaining committed to the mandates of their respective organisations and supporting the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The tenure renewal is expected to provide leadership continuity at NAN and NTA as both organisations continue to adapt to the changing demands of journalism, broadcasting and digital communication.
