Etsu Kwali, Ooni of Ife Strengthen Gbari-Yoruba Relations in Historic Ile-Ife Meeting
Two of Nigeria’s respected traditional rulers, Etsu Kwali, His Royal Highness Luka Ayedoo Nizassan III, and the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Oba Ọjájá II Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, CFR, have met at the Ile Oodua Palace in Ile-Ife to strengthen relations between the Gbari Nyize and Yoruba people.
The meeting focused on promoting friendship, cultural exchange, community development and opportunities for greater cooperation between the two traditional institutions.

The initiative by Etsu Kwali is particularly commendable, as it demonstrates the important role traditional rulers can play in building relationships beyond their immediate communities.

His engagement with the Ooni of Ife offers a valuable platform for deeper cultural understanding, mutual respect and collaboration between the Gbari and Yoruba peoples.
The meeting also highlights the potential of traditional institutions to contribute to unity, peaceful coexistence and grassroots development in Nigeria.

The historic engagement has been welcomed by well-wishers, who described it as a proud moment for Kwali Chiefdom, the Gbari Nyize and Ile-Ife, while expressing hope that the friendship will lead to lasting partnerships and tangible benefits for both communities.
Long live Etsu Kwali.
Long live the Ooni of Ife.
Long live Ga’aba.
Long live the Gbari-Yoruba friendship.
