Police arrest suspect after officers reportedly noticed a shaking, tinted vehicle at Airport Bridge Taxi Park; victim found to be about three months pregnant
The FCT Police Command has arrested a man identified as Zazzayanu Halilu over the alleged sexual abuse of a 12-year-old girl inside a parked vehicle in Abuja.
The incident reportedly occurred on October 2 at the Airport Bridge Taxi Park, where police operatives on routine patrol became suspicious of a fully tinted navy-blue Volkswagen vehicle with registration number KMC567LQ.
According to the FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, officers noticed that the vehicle’s windows were wound up and that the car was shaking.
Suspecting that something might be wrong, the officers approached the vehicle and opened it, where they allegedly found the suspect sexually abusing the minor.
The suspect was immediately arrested, while the girl was rescued by the police.
Preliminary investigations, according to the police, indicated that the suspect had allegedly lured and sexually abused the underage girl on several occasions in the same vehicle.
The police further alleged that the suspect threatened to harm the girl if she disclosed the abuse to anyone.
SP Adeh said a medical examination conducted on the victim revealed that she was approximately three months pregnant, allegedly as a result of the abuse.
The victim is currently receiving medical care and undergoing further assessment, while the suspect remains in police custody.
The FCT Police Command said the suspect will be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.
