FCT Missing Again: Who Speaks for Abuja Natives Now?

As the full list emerged, FCT residents were swift to notice the conspicuous absence of any nominee from the territory. This development revived an earlier viral video of Distinguished Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda, CON, where he passionately moved a motion calling for the inclusion and recognition of FCT natives in key federal appointments.

In the video — which resurfaced moments after the ambassadorial list became public — Senator Aduda emphasized that the FCT, despite being the nation’s capital and home to original inhabitants with constitutional rights, often suffers exclusion in national appointments.

Now, with no nominee representing the FCT in the newly released list of Ambassadors, many residents are asking a pressing question:

Who is in the position to speak for the people of the FCT today?

With the seat of power in Abuja and multiple federal decisions impacting the territory directly, stakeholders argue that the natives deserve fair representation — not only in ambassadorial postings but in all critical political appointments.

Community leaders, activists, and youth groups say the renewed outcry is not just about positions but about visibility, recognition, and respect for the identity of the FCT’s indigenous population.

As debates continue, the FCT public awaits an official response, hoping that the voices championed by former lawmakers like Senator Aduda will once again return to the forefront of national discuss.
