After Ganging Up Against Jonathan in 2014, Nigeria Worse Under APC — Atiku Laments

Former Vice President Atiku Says Coalition That Removed Jonathan Has Not Improved Security, Economy

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed regret over his involvement in the political alliance that led to the removal of former President in 2015, saying Nigeria’s situation has worsened under the (APC).

Speaking in Abuja, Atiku recalled how opposition leaders came together in 2014 to form a united coalition aimed at addressing insecurity, economic instability and governance concerns under Jonathan’s administration. According to him, the expectation at the time was that a change in government would bring relief and set the country on a stronger path.

However, he lamented that the challenges used to justify the coalition have intensified in recent years. He pointed to rising economic hardship, persistent insecurity and growing public dissatisfaction as signs that the objectives of the 2014 political movement have not been achieved.

Atiku, who was among the founding members of the APC before returning to the (PDP), stressed the need for renewed commitment to democratic values and reforms that prioritize citizens’ welfare.

His comments come amid increasing political activity and early alignments ahead of future elections, as opposition figures continue to scrutinize the ruling party’s performance.
