AMAC/Bwari Lawmaker Announces Party Switch Labour to APC, Unveils GMGG Initiative to Promote Transparency and Grassroots Development in FCT
Labour Party: Hon. Joshua Chinedu Obika, the Member representing AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, has officially resigned from the Labour Party and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmaker’s defection marks a significant political development within Abuja’s political landscape, particularly in AMAC and Bwari Area Councils, where political realignments continue to shape grassroots mobilization and party structures.
Alongside his move to the APC, Hon. Obika also launched a new initiative known as the Grassroot Movement for Good Governance (GMGG), aimed at strengthening citizen participation and promoting transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance across the constituency.
According to a statement issued by his media office, the movement seeks to deepen engagement with communities at the grassroots level while supporting policies and programs that enhance effective representation and improve living conditions for residents in AMAC, Bwari, and the wider FCT.
The announcement was communicated by Amb. Emenike Egbusunwa, Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Hon. Joshua Chinedu Obika, who described the development as part of ongoing efforts to deliver better governance outcomes for constituents.
Political observers note that the defection and launch of the grassroots movement could influence future political alignments and mobilization efforts within the Federal Capital Territory.
