Terrorists strike peaceful Kwara settlement, kidnapping seven residents a day after Christmas
Suspected terrorists have attacked Adanla community in Igbaja Ward 2, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, abducting seven residents and injuring several others in a deadly raid that occurred one day after Christmas.
According to reports by Sahara Reporters, the terrorists stormed the community on Friday evening, December 26, 2025, shortly after residents had concluded Christmas celebrations. The gunmen reportedly arrived in large numbers, shooting sporadically as they forced their way into homes, causing panic and chaos.
Eyewitnesses said several people sustained gunshot injuries during the attack, including women and youths, while seven residents were taken away to an unknown location. Victims who were injured are currently receiving medical treatment, although their conditions remain unclear as of the time of filing this report.
Residents described the attack as sudden and devastating, noting that the community had been peaceful until the violent invasion. Many families have since fled their homes, fearing further attacks.
As of press time, there has been no official statement from the Kwara State Government or security agencies regarding arrests or rescue operations. The incident has once again raised serious concerns over the worsening security situation in Kwara State and parts of North-Central Nigeria.
The attack adds to a growing list of kidnappings and violent raids in Kwara communities in recent months, with armed groups increasingly targeting rural settlements where security presence is weak.
Community leaders and concerned citizens are calling on the Federal Government and security agencies to urgently deploy more personnel, improve surveillance, and intensify operations to protect lives and property across vulnerable communities in the state.
