Renewed Coup Allegations Deepen Political Tension in Burkina Faso
Burkina Faso”s Security Minister, Mahamadou Sana, disclosed that intelligence and security operatives intercepted the plot before it could be executed, describing it as a well-coordinated operation aimed at destabilising the junta-led government.
According to the authorities, the plot had reached an advanced stage, with plans allegedly involving the assassination of Captain Traorรฉ and coordinated attacks on key military and strategic locations across the country.
Burkina Fasoโs military government has accused Lieutenant-Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba, the former transitional president ousted in 2022, of being behind the alleged conspiracy.
Officials further claimed that the operation was allegedly financed from outside the country, particularly from neighbouring Cรดte dโIvoire, though no official response has been issued by the Ivorian authorities or Damiba as of the time of reportin
