Children Doing Fine and Will Be Back Soon, Says NSA Ribadu

In a reassuring move, National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu visited parents of the adopted children and church leaders of the St. Mary’s Private Catholic School in Papiri, Agwarra LGA, Niger State, following the shocking mass abduction of students and staff. He told concerned parents that the children are doing fine and will be back soon.

The incident, which occurred on November 21, involved 315 victims, including 303 children and 12 teachers and staff members. According to officials, about 50 of the abducted children have already escaped and returned to their families safely.

NSA Ribadu emphasized that the federal government, under the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has intensified security operations aimed at rescuing all remaining abducted children. “Evil will never win,” Ribadu declared, assuring parents that their children’s safety is the top priority.

Leaders of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) expressed relief at the federal government’s intervention but noted that many parents remain cautious until all children are safely reunited with their families.

Government Efforts and Community Response

The abduction of children from schools has become a growing concern across Nigeria. Analysts note that such incidents are often orchestrated by armed gangs seeking ransom, putting children at immense risk.

The NSA’s visit reflects the government’s commitment to children’s safety and highlights the urgency of providing secure learning environments nationwide. Civil society groups, including Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG Global), continue to call for stronger protection measures to prevent future abductions of children.

While the assurances from officials provide hope, parents and communities remain on edge, awaiting the safe return of all abducted children. The ongoing rescue efforts underline the federal government’s determination to ensure that children can pursue education without fear of violence or abduction.
