Sagamu Magistrate Court fixes March 17 for continuation of hearing over fatal Lagos-Ibadan Expressway accident
A Magistrate Court sitting in , , has adjourned the trial of the driver involved in the fatal road crash that claimed the lives of two trainers attached to British-Nigerian boxing champion .
The court fixed March 17, 2026, for continuation of hearing, granting the prosecution additional time to properly file and organize its case after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) took over the matter.
The defendant, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, is facing charges including dangerous driving causing death, reckless and negligent driving, driving without due care and attention, and allegedly driving without a valid national driver’s licence.
The fatal accident occurred on December 29, 2025, along the , when a Lexus SUV conveying members of Joshua’s team reportedly crashed into a stationary truck.
While Anthony Joshua survived the crash with minor injuries, two members of his team — his personal trainer and strength coach — lost their lives in the incident.
The prosecution is expected to present witnesses and tender evidence when the case resumes in March as the court moves to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic accident.
