Federal Fire Service contains blaze swiftly, preventing major damage at popular Abuja commercial complex

A fire outbreak occurred on Saturday at the popular Leventis Plaza in Abuja, with authorities suspecting an electrical surge as the likely cause of the incident.

According to the Federal Fire Service (FFS), the fire started from a section of the commercial complex, reportedly affecting a workshop within the building. Firefighters were immediately deployed to the scene and succeeded in containing the blaze before it could spread to other parts of the plaza.

The FFS confirmed that the prompt response helped avert what could have been a major disaster, given the strategic location of Leventis Plaza and the high volume of commercial activities carried out within the complex daily.

While no casualties were reported, some property and equipment were damaged by the fire. Officials said investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the incident, although preliminary findings point to an electrical surge.

The Fire Service has once again urged business owners and residents in Abuja to ensure proper electrical installations and regular maintenance of wiring systems to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Leventis Plaza is one of Abuja’s notable commercial centres, housing several offices, shops, and service providers, making the incident a source of concern for traders and residents in the Federal Capital Territory.
