Explosion Hits Kebbi Hospital
An explosion has rocked the General Hospital in Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State, causing damage to a section of the facility and triggering panic among residents and hospital staff.
The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, affected parts of the hospital’s staff quarters, leaving a building damaged. However, authorities have confirmed that no casualties were recorded.
Police Confirm Incident, Begin Investigation
The Kebbi State Police Command confirmed the explosion and disclosed that an investigation has been launched to determine the cause.
According to the police, a joint security team comprising police officers, military personnel, and local vigilantes was immediately deployed to the scene to secure the area and prevent further threats.
Specialists from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit and Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) unit were also mobilised to assess the situation.
No Casualties Recorded – Police Assure Residents
Police authorities reassured the public that no lives were lost and no injuries were reported, adding that occupants of the affected building had vacated the area before the explosion occurred.
Residents were urged to remain calm while security agencies continue investigations to establish whether the explosion was accidental or deliberate.
Area Secured As Fear Grips Residents
The explosion caused widespread fear among hospital workers, patients, and residents of Bagudo, prompting heightened security around the hospital environment.
The Commissioner of Police has ordered increased patrols and tactical deployment within the area to restore public confidence and maintain law and order.

While the exact cause of the explosion remains unclear, police say findings from ongoing investigations will be made public as soon as they are concluded.
Authorities have advised residents to avoid the immediate vicinity of the hospital until security assessments are fully completed.
