Riders call on FCT Minister Wike to intervene as new levies threaten their livelihoods
Dispatch riders in FCT Abuja have staged protests against what they describe as multiple taxation, claiming they are being charged repeatedly despite already paying their council dues. They are appealing to the FCT Minister, , to intervene and stop the additional levies, which they say are making it difficult to sustain their businesses.
Rider representatives warned that the new charges by some area councils amount to “double and triple taxation,” putting undue financial pressure on operators who depend on daily earnings. They emphasized the need for fairness and clarity in taxation to ensure their livelihoods are not jeopardized.
The protesters are calling for urgent dialogue with FCT authorities to resolve the matter and prevent disruption to dispatch services across the city.
