The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, has vowed to halt all forms of illegal construction and land grabbing across Abuja, following a confrontation with Nigerian Navy officers in Gaduwa District.
The incident occurred when the Minister and his team were blocked by naval officers while inspecting an unauthorized development site along the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way. The officers reportedly claimed to be acting on the orders of a former Chief of Naval Staff, who was allegedly building without title documents or approval from the FCTA Department of Development Control.
Wike condemned the obstruction, describing it as lawlessness and insisting that no one is above the law. He stated that the FCTA would not succumb to intimidation or blackmail, emphasizing his commitment to protecting Abuja’s master plan.
The Minister disclosed that he had spoken with the Chief of Defence Staff and the Chief of Naval Staff, who assured him of swift intervention in the matter.
