Federal Cooperative College Kaduna Spends ₦122 Million on SUVs for Lagos Traditional Rulers

Kaduna college’s vehicle procurement for Lagos chiefs raises questions over public funds use

The Federal Cooperative College, Kaduna, has reportedly spent ₦122 million on SUVs and other vehicles for traditional rulers in Lagos State, according to records on the GovSpend portal. The contract was awarded to Sparktech Global Ventures Limited and executed in February 2025.

The move has sparked controversy because the Kaduna-based federal institution, whose primary mandate is cooperative education and vocational training, appears to have acted as a conduit for vehicle procurement far outside its jurisdiction.

SaharaReporters notes that this is not the first time such spending has occurred. Previous transactions between August and December 2023 show similar vehicle purchases for the same Lagos constituency, suggesting a pattern.

Critics argue that these transactions raise serious concerns about accountability in federal spending and the proper use of public funds. Observers also point to the involvement of a House of Representatives member for the area, hinting at possible political influence in the contracts.

The revelation adds to ongoing debates about federal procurement practices in Nigeria, prompting calls for relevant authorities, including the Federal Ministry of Education and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), to investigate the matter.
