The Federal Government has unveiled a groundbreaking funding initiative aimed at empowering young innovators across Nigeria. Through the newly launched “Next Moonshot” programme, the Ministry of Education will provide ₦50 million grants to student entrepreneurs—with zero equity taken from their startups.

Education Minister Dr. Tunji Alausa announced the initiative during a press briefing in Abuja, describing it as a key component of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to strengthen innovation, STEM development, and youth entrepreneurship in higher institutions.

Under the Student Venture Capital Grant (S-VCG) scheme, the programme targets students with high-impact ideas in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) and Health, giving them the resources to turn early concepts into sustainable, market-ready products.

What Beneficiaries Will Receive

  • Up to ₦50 million grant per innovative project
  • Specialized training and incubation support
  • Mentorship from industry experts
  • Access to tools, digital platforms, and advanced technology
  • A one-year free Google Gemini Pro license

FG Partners Google for AI-Powered Review System

The Ministry revealed a strategic partnership with Google, integrating evaluation agents and Gemini AI into the application review process. The collaboration aims to equip Nigerian students with global-standard digital tools while boosting the quality and scalability of their startups.

Who Can Apply?

The application portal is now open to students in all government-recognized tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
