FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup: Nigeria’s Flamingos Crash Out After Defeat to Italy

Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, have bowed out of the ongoing FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup after a hard-fought defeat to Italy in the Round of 16.


Despite a spirited performance, the Flamingos were unable to overcome the tactical Italian side, who capitalized on their chances to seal victory. The result ends Nigeria’s impressive run in the tournament and dashes hopes of surpassing their 2022 semifinal feat.


Head coach Bankole Olowookere praised his players for their resilience and commitment, describing the tournament as “a learning curve and a foundation for future success.”
The Flamingos, known for their flair and determination, will now shift focus to rebuilding and preparing for future international engagements.
