Solar Panel Blaze Razes Four Flats in Asokoro, No Casualties Reported”
Abuja, Nigeria – December 13, 2025 – A major fire gutted a property reportedly belonging to former Zamfara State Governor and current senator, Sani Yerima, in Asokoro, Abuja, destroying four of five three-bedroom flats.
The blaze reportedly started around 1:00 PM and is believed to have originated from solar panels on the roof of one of the buildings. The fire quickly spread, causing extensive property damage but fortunately no casualties were reported.
Emergency response teams from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Federal Fire Service, FCT Fire Service, NEMA, and FCT Police swiftly responded to contain the fire and prevent further destruction. Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with smoke and flames visible from a distance.
Residents and property owners in Asokoro have been urged to inspect electrical and solar installations regularly to prevent similar incidents. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by relevant authorities.
