JAMB Registration Now Mandatory For NOUN, Distance Learning Admission Seekers

The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has mandated that all prospective students aiming to enroll in the Nigerian Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) and other distance learning institutions must now register through JAMB. This new requirement also necessitates the provision of a National Identification Number (NIN) during the registration process.

This initiative is part of JAMB’s strategy to combat fraudulent activities and ensure the integrity of candidates’ records. The Board, in an advisory issued from Abuja, highlighted the importance of this measure for all applicants, whether they are pursuing regular or non-regular programs.

Key Points from the Advisory:

1. Mandatory JAMB Registration:
   • All candidates seeking admission into NOUN, Distance Learning, Part-time, and Sandwich programs must register with JAMB.
2. NIN Requirement:
   • Candidates must provide their NIN during registration. To create a profile code, they need to send their NIN via their unique phone number to JAMB’s designated sort codes (55019 or 66019).
3. Integration for Existing Candidates:
   • Candidates already enrolled in non-regular programs who have not integrated their NIN into the JAMB platform must do so to access JAMB services.
4. Continuous Registration:
   • JAMB will keep its registration platform available throughout the year to accommodate these requirements.
5. Institution-Specific Processing Fees:
   • After obtaining their JAMB registration numbers, candidates must approach their chosen institutions to complete the admission process and pay any institution-specific processing fees.

JAMB’s new directive ensures a more secure and efficient registration process, standardizing the vetting and recording of all applicants. This measure is expected to enhance the integrity of admissions into tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
