JAMB Announces Official Guidelines for 2026 UTME Registration

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the full requirements and registration procedures for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The update was issued on the Board’s verified X handle on Sunday, December 7, 2025.

According to JAMB, the guidelines aim to prevent common registration mistakes and ensure a smooth process for all candidates.

Key Requirements for 2026 UTME Registration

1. Validate Your Personal Details

Candidates must verify that their National Identification Number (NIN), email address, phone number, and A-Level results are correct before generating their profile code.

2. How to Generate Your JAMB Profile Code

Send your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 using the format:
NIN 00000011111

Once generated, the profile code cannot be edited, as all biodata is automatically pulled from NIMC.

3. Where to Register

JAMB stressed that all UTME registrations must be completed at:

  • A JAMB office, or
  • An accredited CBT centre

E-PINs should only be purchased from:

  • Authorized banks
  • Approved online channels
  • Registered vendors within CBT centres

Important Warnings from JAMB

Review Your Registration Template

Candidates must carefully cross-check all entries before submission.
Mistakes or conflicting biodata may cause future admission issues.

Resolve NIN Issues Early

Candidates should correct any discrepancies at NIMC before registration, including:

  • Name
  • Date of birth
  • Gender
  • State of origin

Updates must reflect on the NIMC portal before visiting a CBT centre.

Use Your Personal Phone Number and Email

Your phone number and email are your unique identifiers.
They must be active, personal, and not shared with anyone.

Biometric Issues

Any candidate experiencing biometric verification problems must report directly to a JAMB office.
CBT centres are not allowed to force registration.

Frequent Errors During Profile Code Generation

  • “Error 550/66019” – Caused by wrong SMS format
  • “Number Already Registered” – Phone number linked to an old profile
  • “Unable to Verify NIN” – Candidate should wait and retry later

2026 UTME Sales Timeline

  • Registration Opens: Friday, January 31, 2026
  • Registration Closes: Saturday, March 8, 2026
