Kogi state Government orders temporary closures in seven LGAs to support security operations
The Kogi State Government has temporarily closed selected markets and motor parks across seven local government areas (LGAs) in the state West Senatorial District to enhance security and curb criminal activities. This measure follows recent terrorist and bandit attacks affecting communities in the region.
Authorities said the closures are part of a coordinated security operation involving state security agencies and the Office of the National Security Adviser. The affected LGAs include Lokoja, Kabba-Bunu, Yagba West, Yagba East, of the state, Mopamuro, and Ijumu.
The government explained that the shutdown is aimed at disrupting logistics and supply routes used by criminals and preventing the movement of goods that may support their activities. Residents are urged to cooperate with the directives and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
The state Police Command emphasized that the closures are temporary and precautionary, with markets and motor parks set to reopen once the security operations are successfully completed. Officials stressed that the measure is necessary to restore safety and protect residents in Kogi West.
