Government Issues Security Advisory, Urges Residents To Stay Vigilant During Crossover Celebrations
Ilorin, Kwara State — The Kwara State Government has issued a security alert warning residents of planned attacks on public infrastructure and crowded locations during the ongoing New Year festivities across the state.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the government said the warning followed credible intelligence reports indicating that some criminal elements may be plotting to disrupt public peace by targeting critical infrastructure and soft targets, particularly during crossover services and end-of-year celebrations.
Heightened Security Alert Across Kwara
According to the statement, the suspected attacks are believed to be a retaliatory move by criminal groups who have recently suffered losses due to intensified security operations.
The government urged residents to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary movement, and exercise caution around large gatherings that could be vulnerable to attacks.
“Residents are advised to be watchful, avoid non-essential travel, and promptly report any suspicious activities or movements to security agencies,” the statement read.
Warning Against Suspicious Movements
The Kwara State Government specifically cautioned against unusual motorcycle convoys and strange movements, noting that such patterns have previously been associated with criminal operations in some parts of the country.
Citizens were encouraged to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing timely and useful information that could help prevent any security breach.
Security Agencies On High Alert
Reassuring the public, the government disclosed that security agencies have been placed on high alert and are working round the clock to ensure the safety of lives and property throughout the festive period.
Residents were also urged to remain calm and go about their lawful activities while maintaining a high sense of security awareness.
Government Reaffirms Commitment To Safety
