Air Force operation targets criminal hideouts as insecurity spreads across North-Central Nigeria
The Nigerian military has conducted airstrikes on suspected bandit camps located in Ifelodun and Patigi Local Government Areas of Kwara State, intensifying efforts to combat rising insecurity in the North-Central region.
According to Sahara Reporters, the air operation followed intelligence reports indicating that armed bandits were operating from forested hideouts within the affected areas. The strikes were aimed at disrupting criminal networks linked to kidnappings, violent attacks on communities, and other security threats.
Residents in parts of Ifelodun and Patigi reportedly heard loud explosions during the operation, suggesting a coordinated military offensive against the armed groups. The affected locations are believed to serve as strategic bases for bandits launching attacks on nearby villages and major routes.
Kwara State has recently experienced growing security challenges, particularly in border communities vulnerable to infiltration by criminal elements from neighbouring states. The latest military action underscores ongoing efforts by security forces to prevent the spread of banditry and restore safety in the region.
As of the time of reporting, the military has not released official details on casualties or the extent of damage caused. However, security authorities have maintained that operations against bandit groups will continue until the threat is neutralised and normalcy fully restored.
