Organised Labour Says No Worker Will Be Victimised, NIC Cases to Be Withdrawn after overnight meeting
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) have announced the outcome of a conciliatory meeting with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, following recent industrial actions by workers in the territory.
In a joint circular dated 3rd February 2026 and addressed to all affiliates of both labour centres, organised labour disclosed that the meeting was convened at the instance of the Chairman, Senate Committee on the FCT, Senator Mohammed Bomoi.
According to the circular, the meeting commenced at 11:45pm and ended at 3:51am after extensive and frank deliberations between both parties.
At the end of the meeting, all complaints presented by members of the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) were taken one after the other and fully addressed.
The FCT Minister assured organised labour of mutual respect and sustained engagement going forward, signalling improved labour–government relations in the Federal Capital Territory.
It was also agreed that no worker would be victimised in any manner as a result of participation in the strike action.
Furthermore, all outstanding cases at the National Industrial Court (NIC) relating to the dispute are to be withdrawn immediately, a move expected to restore industrial harmony in Abuja and across the FCT.
