Abuja, Nigeria – October 31, 2025:
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially decorated Nigeria’s newly appointed Service Chiefs with their new ranks at a brief but colorful ceremony held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The decoration follows the confirmation of their appointments by the Nigerian Senate, after the President announced a major shake-up in the nation’s military leadership last week.

Newly Decorated Service Chiefs and Their Ranks
General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede – Chief of Defence Staff (CDS)
Formerly a Lieutenant General, Oluyede has now been promoted to full General, a four-star rank. He will coordinate all branches of the Armed Forces and oversee national defence operations.

Lieutenant General Wahidi Shaibu – Chief of Army Staff (COAS)
The new Army Chief was elevated from the rank of Major General to Lieutenant General, a three-star position, and is expected to lead ongoing military operations across the country with renewed focus on discipline and efficiency.

Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke – Chief of Air Staff (CAS)
Aneke’s promotion to Air Marshal confirms his new status as head of the Nigerian Air Force. His leadership will prioritize modern air power strategies, enhanced surveillance, and improved personnel welfare.

Admiral Idi Abbas – Chief of Naval Staff (CNS)
The new Navy boss, previously a Vice Admiral, was decorated as Admiral. His mandate includes strengthening maritime security and combating oil theft in Nigeria’s coastal regions.
