New Appointments Signal Major Shake-Up in Rivers Government as Governor Demands Loyalty, Discipline
Governor has sworn in a new Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Chief of Staff as part of ongoing restructuring within the Government, warning the appointees against engaging in what he described as “secret night meetings.”
The swearing-in ceremony, held at the Government House in , saw Dr. assume office as the new SSG, while Barrister was inaugurated as Chief of Staff to the Governor.
The appointments come shortly after the dissolution of the state executive council, a development that marked a significant shift in the administration’s structure amid ongoing political realignments in the state.
Speaking during the ceremony, Governor Fubara described the appointments as a call to dedicated public service and urged the officials to discharge their duties with loyalty, discipline, and integrity. He warned them against participating in unauthorized gatherings or clandestine meetings, particularly those capable of undermining the administration.
The governor made it clear that any involvement in secret meetings or actions that could embarrass the government would result in immediate removal from office. He emphasized that both offices operate directly under his authority and must align strictly with the vision and objectives of his administration.
Fubara further charged the new SSG and Chief of Staff to work in synergy to enhance coordination of government policies and ensure effective service delivery to the people of Rivers State.
