UNVEILING OF NEEDS MAGAZINE – PROMOTING SPECIAL NEEDS
The much-anticipated unveiling ceremony of the Needs Magazine took place on Wednesday 24th January 2024 at ERC Multi – purpose Hall, marking a significant milestone in the journey to promote special needs education. Mr. Jonah O. Aturu, the Director of Special Needs Education, welcomed an esteemed gathering of guests, including the Mandate Secretary, the GM of Abuja Intercontinental Hotel, medical doctors, the Director of Higher Education, and other distinguished directors, alongside representatives from various special schools.
Mr. Aturu emphasized the arduous yet purposeful journey that commenced in 2022, culminating in this momentous occasion. He expressed gratitude to all involved; acknowledging their determination to sustain the academic sojourn dedicated to special needs education.
Hon. Dr. Ibrahim Hayyo, the FCT Education Mandate Secretary, shared his sentiments, considering it a privilege to witness such a noteworthy event. Dr. Hayyo commended the Special Needs Department and, pledging further support, announced financial backing for the Needs Magazine.
The Director of FCT Department of Higher Education, Mr. Siyanbola, joined forces with the GM of Abuja Intercontinental Hotel and the FCT Education Secretariat Mandate Secretary in the official unveiling of the magazine. This symbolic act underlined a collaborative effort among key stakeholders committed to advancing inclusive education.
The event concluded with applause and recognition for the collective dedication towards creating awareness and fostering an environment conducive to the needs of special education. The Needs Magazine stands not only as a publication but as a testament to the unwavering commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for individuals with special needs.
