Investment to boost local manufacturing and African-led security innovation
US tech billionaire Joe Lonsdale has invested $11.8 million in Terra Industries, an Abuja-based startup that manufactures drones and autonomous security systems for African infrastructure valued at $11 billion.
The funding will expand manufacturing capacity and support cross-border security and counter-terrorism operations across the continent. Terra Industries emphasizes African-led engineering and homegrown defense innovation as key to strengthening local security capabilities.
