Contractors allege harassment and arrest orders by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike as payment crisis deepens in Abuja.

A viral video circulating online has captured the emotional plea of indigenous Federal Capital Territory (FCT) contractors appealing directly to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over alleged unpaid contracts valued at ₦5.2billion.

In the video, members of the All Indigenous Contractors Association of Nigeria (AICAN) accused the FCT Administration (FCTA) of failing to settle verified contracts executed across Abuja over several years. The contractors said the prolonged non-payment has plunged many of them into debt, forcing loan defaults, asset seizures, and business collapse.

The contractors also alleged intimidation and harassment, claiming that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, ordered arrests following their demands for payment. According to speakers in the video, some leaders of the association were reportedly detained after confronting authorities over the outstanding liabilities.

Appealing for urgent intervention, the contractors urged President Tinubu to step in, warning that continued silence could worsen economic hardship among indigenous businesses in the nation’s capital. The video has since sparked widespread reactions on social media, intensifying public debate over contract payments, governance, and accountability in Abuja.
