Gbagyi Community Makes History With Coronation of First Sa-Gbagyi in Plateau State
First Sa-Gbagyi: The ceremony, held in Jos, attracted Gbagyi indigenes and well-wishers from within and outside Plateau State. Elder Musa Kwawasu, a respected custodian of Gbagyi tradition, performed the turbaning rites, symbolizing authority and ancestral blessing.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Matthew Chidawa, honoured for his service and humility, presented the revered cultural sword known as Ebe to Sa-Gbagyi Musa Katai, sealing the historic transition of leadership.
Chairman of Gbagyiza on the Plateau, Comrade Adams Yahaya Adamu, congratulated the new Sa-Gbagyi, describing the coronation as “God-ordained” and a unifying force for Gbagyi people across Nassarawa, Niger, FCT Abuja, Kaduna, and Kogi States.
Musa Katai hails from Rafin-Kunama in Toto Local Government Area of Nassarawa State and brings extensive leadership experience gained from years of service in the civil sector and private institutions.
The coronation is expected to reinforce cultural identity and encourage unity among Gbagyi sons and daughters nationwide. Community members expressed joy and hope that the new leadership will strengthen traditional values and promote socio-cultural growth.
