Keffi LG Secretary Sacked Over Alleged Social Media Posts Against Nasarawa Council

Keffi LGA chairman dismisses Ibrahim Bala over claims of inflammatory online comments

The Secretary of Keffi Local Government Council in Nasarawa State has been sacked following allegations that he made controversial social media posts critical of the council and its leadership.

According to reports, the affected official, Ibrahim Bala, was relieved of his duties by the Chairman of Keffi Local Government Area, Dr. Idris Ahmed Damagani, after an internal review of his conduct. The decision was conveyed in an official letter signed by the council’s Director of Administration, Usman Zubairu Egya.

The council accused the former secretary of making unethical and inflammatory comments on social media platforms, which were said to be directed at the council leadership and key political stakeholders. The posts were also alleged to contain threats against the council chairman and statements considered disrespectful to constituted authority, elders, and members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the area.

Sources said Bala had earlier been issued a formal query in January 2026 to explain his actions but failed to provide a response deemed satisfactory by the council. As a result, the management concluded that his continued stay in office could undermine peace, discipline, and unity within the local government.

The Keffi Local Government Council stated that the decision to sack the secretary was taken in the interest of maintaining order, professionalism, and respect for public office, stressing that public officials must conduct themselves responsibly both offline and on social media.

The development has since sparked conversations on social media conduct, freedom of expression, and accountability among public office holders in Nasarawa State and beyond.
