FCT Police say investigators traced a missing man’s phone to a married woman after his body was discovered along the Kubwa Expressway; two hotel workers were also arrested over the alleged movement and dumping of the body.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a married woman, Mrs Rukayat Muhammed, and two workers of a guest house in connection with the death of a man whose body was later discovered under the Katampe Bridge along the Kubwa Expressway, Abuja.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Sanusi, disclosed this on Saturday, September 26, 2026, during a press briefing at the Command Headquarters in Abuja.
According to the Commissioner, the deceased had earlier been reported missing by his family before his lifeless body was discovered along the Kubwa Expressway by Katampe on August 26, 2026.
Sanusi said the investigation took a significant turn after detectives discovered that the deceased’s mobile phone was missing. Investigators subsequently traced the circumstances surrounding the phone and established the deceased’s last known contact.
The investigation reportedly led police to Mrs Rukayat Muhammed of Garki Area 2, who police said was allegedly in a relationship with the deceased.
The police said further investigation established that Muhammed and the deceased had lodged at Good Samaritan Guest House on Second Avenue, Gwarimpa, where they spent some time together.
According to Sanusi, the woman told investigators that she discovered the man was no longer breathing.
The Commissioner alleged that rather than immediately reporting the incident to the police, Muhammed took the deceased’s mobile phone and left the hotel.
Sanusi further disclosed that several hours later, after hotel management could not establish contact with the occupants of the room, access was gained and the deceased’s body was discovered.
He said two members of the hotel staff, identified as Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus, allegedly removed the body from the room and transported it to the Kubwa Expressway by Katampe, where it was dumped under the bridge.
The police said the incident had initially generated speculation about a possible kidnapping or “one chance” robbery. However, investigators subsequently established that the body belonged to the man whose disappearance had earlier been reported by his family.
The Commissioner stressed that the investigation remains ongoing and that the exact cause and circumstances of the man’s death have not yet been established.
He added that anyone found to have played a role in the death or subsequent concealment and abandonment of the body would face the law.
The FCT Police Command said detectives are continuing investigations to establish the full circumstances surrounding the man’s death and how his body was moved from the Gwarimpa guest house to the Katampe area.
