Man reportedly told security operatives his father, an FCT Fire Service worker, was sick and had directed him to sit for the examination on his behalf
A 33-year-old man, identified as Monsuru Musa, has been arrested for allegedly impersonating his father, Musa Mohammed, during the ongoing FCT Civil Service Commission promotion examination in Abuja.
Monsuru was reportedly caught on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, the third day of the promotion examination, while allegedly writing the examination on behalf of his father, who works with the FCT Fire Service.
The incident occurred at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) premises, the venue of the examination.
According to reports, the security personnel deployed at the instance of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, apprehended Monsuru during the examination.
When questioned, Monsuru reportedly claimed that his father was sick but was within the examination premises. He allegedly told the security operatives that his father had directed him to sit for the examination on his behalf.
Asked about his father’s age, Monsuru reportedly said his father was between 67 and 68 years old. However, Musa Mohammed gave a different account, stating that he would be 60 years old by February 2027.
During further interrogation, Musa Mohammed reportedly said he completed primary school in 1977 and secondary school in 1982.
Following the incident, both father and son were handed over to the police for further investigation after making statements to DSS operatives.
The authorities are expected to investigate the alleged examination impersonation and determine the appropriate action against the individuals involved.
