Tragedy strikes as Southern kaduna abducted residents reportedly die after more than three months in captivity

Eight people abducted from communities in Southern Kaduna, including two newborn babies, have reportedly died after spending 110 days in captivity, in a tragic development that has intensified concerns over Nigeria’s worsening kidnapping crisis.

The victims were among residents kidnapped during attacks on communities in the area and were said to have endured severe hardship throughout their more than three months in captivity. Their deaths have plunged families and affected communities into mourning, highlighting the devastating human cost of prolonged abductions.

The incident has sparked renewed calls on the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue those still being held captive, improve security in vulnerable communities and ensure those responsible for the kidnappings are apprehended and prosecuted.

The tragedy has once again brought the persistent insecurity in Southern Kaduna into sharp focus, with residents urging authorities to adopt more effective measures to protect lives and prevent further attacks.
