Association of Resident Doctors commends FCT Minister for prioritizing healthcare workers’ welfare in Abuja.

The Association of Resident Doctors, Federal Capital Territory (ARD-FCTA) has commended FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for his commitment to the welfare of doctors and healthcare workers in Abuja.

In a letter dated January 15, 2026, the Association praised the Minister for settling 13 months of outstanding hazard allowance arrears and paying a one-month wage award to resident doctors in the FCTA.

Signed by ARD-FCTA President Dr. George Ebong and General Secretary Dr. Yusuf Israel Lissa, the letter described the payments as a reflection of Minister Wike’s exemplary leadership and dedication to fairness and equity in recognizing the sacrifices of healthcare workers.

The Association also acknowledged the contributions of other key officials, including Dr. Mariya Mahmoud (Minister of State, FCT), Mrs. Nancy Sabanti Nathan (Acting Head of Service), and Engr. Emeka Ezeh (Chairman, FCT Civil Service Commission), for their support in implementing the welfare measures.

The ARD-FCTA reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with the FCTA to strengthen the health sector and ensure the delivery of quality healthcare services to residents of Abuja.

This intervention highlights the FCT government’s focus on supporting medical professionals, motivating doctors to continue providing essential healthcare services across the territory.
