FCT youth coalition urges Hon. Ezekiel Musa Dalhatu to contest the 2027 senatorial election, citing need for stronger representation.

A coalition of FCT youths and residents under the banner of the FCT Concerned Youth Network has formally called on Hon. Ezekiel Musa Dalhatu, popularly known as MC Gida Gida, to contest the Federal Capital Territory Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.

The call was made during a press conference held in Abuja, where representatives drawn from communities across the six Area Councils of the FCT gathered to declare their support for the former Commissioner of the Public Complaints Commission.

Addressing journalists and invited stakeholders, the group described Dalhatu as a leader with a proven commitment to peace, justice, and inclusive governance. According to the network, the decision followed extensive consultations among indigenous communities and residents who seek what they termed purposeful and people-oriented representation at the National Assembly.

The group noted that the FCT comprises nine indigenous tribes and hundreds of communities whose voices, they argued, require stronger representation at the Senate. They maintained that Dalhatu possesses the leadership qualities needed to articulate the concerns of both indigenous people and residents of the territory.

Speaking on behalf of the coalition, the youth leaders described him as part of a new generation of leadership that is youthful, courageous, and community-focused. They said his consistent engagement with grassroots communities and advocacy for fairness and justice set him apart as a viable candidate capable of defending the interests of the FCT at the national level.

The network further pledged its readiness to mobilize support and resources toward securing his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms, regardless of the political party platform he may choose.

According to the group, the movement backing Dalhatu is peaceful, inclusive, and driven by the collective will of the people, emphasizing that credible leadership should emerge from popular demand and remain accountable to citizens.

The coalition concluded by urging Hon. Dalhatu Ezekiel Musa to heed what they described as a widespread call from residents of the FCT, expressing optimism that his candidacy would usher in stronger representation and inclusive development across the territory.

The group said residents now await his response as political activities gradually begin ahead of the 2027 elections.
