Dignitaries, family, district heads and well-wishers celebrate Garki Hakimi as he combines golden jubilee with 5th memorial of late HRH Jacob Shizawobwayi Garki
HRH, TPL Stephen Shekwonce Yakubu, District Head (Hakimi) of Garki–Shekwope in the Garki Chiefdom, on Thursday, March 26, 2026, marked his 50th birthday celebration in a grand and memorable gathering held in Apo Resettlement, Abuja.
The event, which doubled as a golden jubilee celebration and a solemn remembrance, also featured the 5th year memorial of his late father, HRH Jacob Shizawobwayi Garki (JP), who passed away on the same date five years ago.


The well-attended ceremony took place at Apo Resettlement, Abuja, drawing a large crowd that included family members, elders, district heads, friends, colleagues, and the Miss Gbagyi team, among others.


In her remarks, the wife of the celebrant, Mrs. Sarah Stephen, expressed gratitude to all guests for honoring the occasion and celebrating with the family. The celebrant, TPL Stephen Shekwonce Yakubu, in his welcome address, appreciated attendees for their presence and support, while reminding everyone of the significance of the day as both his birthday and the anniversary of his father’s passing.




A tribute session and a prayer session was held in honor of the late HRH Jacob Shizawobwayi Garki, celebrating his legacy and contributions to the community.
Goodwill messages poured in from notable personalities including Hon. Ishaku Tanko Yamawo, Hon. Danjuma Samuel Shekwolo (Kuje Chairman-Elect), and Hon. Helen Zamani, SSA to the FCT Minister of State. They all commended TPL Stephen for his exemplary lifestyle, his inclusive leadership style, and his unwavering commitment to the growth and development of his district and the people around him.




The highlight of the celebration was the cutting of the birthday cake by the celebrant and his wife, marking the golden jubilee in a joyful atmosphere. Guests were treated to an array of food and drinks, which were generously served throughout the event.




The presence and support of attendees were warmly appreciated by the host, as the event concluded on a note of gratitude, unity, and celebration of both life and legacy.
