Kebbi Police Confirm Fire as Cause of Bagudo Hospital Explosion, No Casualties Reported”

Bagudo, Kebbi State – The Kebbi State Police Command has clarified that the recent explosion at the General Hospital in Bagudo was caused by a fire incident, not a bomb, debunking earlier rumors circulating on social media.

According to the police, the explosion resulted from overheating gas cylinders linked to hospital air-conditioning units and refrigeration equipment. Authorities emphasized that no explosives or terrorist attacks were involved in the incident.

No Casualties Recorded

The police confirmed that there were no casualties or injuries, and all occupants of the affected staff quarters had safely evacuated prior to the explosion. A section of the hospital building sustained damage, but essential medical services remain unaffected.

Security Agencies Responded Promptly

Security agencies, including the police and military personnel, quickly secured the scene, with Explosive Ordnance Disposal experts deployed to ensure safety. The command urged the public to disregard unverified reports suggesting a bombing or airstrike.

Investigation Ongoing

A thorough investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the fire and assess the extent of structural damage. Kebbi State authorities have assured residents of continued safety measures in public facilities.
