Much-Anticipated Response: Ezekiel Dalhatu Breaks Silence on Calls to Contest FCT Senate Seat

Popular FCT advocate acknowledges growing pressure, promises people-driven decision

The political atmosphere in the Federal Capital Territory is gradually heating up ahead of the 2027 general elections, and one of the name that has continued to dominate conversations across communities, youth circles, and social platforms is Hon. Dalhatu Ezekiel Musa Mnim.

For months, FCT youths and concerned residents have openly called on the respected indigene and advocate to step forward and contest the FCT Senatorial seat. From grassroots engagements to online campaigns, the demand has been loud, persistent, and impossible to ignore.

Today (15th January 2026), Hon. Dalhatu Musa finally broke his silence, issuing a press statement many now describe as a thoughtful and mature response to the growing clamour.

“I Hear You” — A Message That Resonated

In his statement, the FCT native expressed deep gratitude to residents for what he described as organic support and goodwill, acknowledging the enthusiasm and courage of those urging him to join the race.

He noted that the calls cut across individuals, groups, and communities within the FCT, stressing that the growing interest reflects a wider desire by the people to redefine leadership and representation in the territory.

“I hear you clearly,” he assured supporters, a line that has since resonated strongly among youths who see him as a voice that understands their struggles.

Hon. Dalhatu Musa used the opportunity to restate his long-standing advocacy for better living conditions for both indigenous people and residents of the FCT. According to him, his public engagements have never been driven by personal ambition, but by concern over suffering, deprivation, hopelessness, and injustice faced by many communities.

This position appears to further strengthen the bond between him and young people in the FCT, many of whom have been vocal about marginalisation, unemployment, and lack of inclusive governance.

While stopping short of an outright declaration, the potential aspirant revealed that he is currently consulting widely — engaging elders, leaders, and youths across the FCT — to ensure that any decision he takes reflects the collective interest of the people.

He assured supporters that once these consultations are concluded, he will return to the public with a clear and informed resolution.

A Call for Respectful Politics

In a tone widely praised as statesmanlike, Hon. Dalhatu Musa also appealed to supporters to avoid unnecessary comparisons with past or present political leaders, noting that all have contributed in different ways to the development of the FCT.

Observers say this posture signals a desire for issue-based politics rather than divisive narratives.

Rising Momentum Ahead of 2027

Political watchers believe this response, though cautious, has further energized supporters and solidified Hon. Dalhatu Musa’s position as one of the most talked-about potential contenders ahead of 2027.

For now, the people wait — but one thing is clear: the conversation around the FCT Senate seat has taken a new and compelling turn.
