Niger State Receives Over ₦48bn in Three Months as Kwamba PHC Reportedly Treats Patients on Torn Mattresses

Despite receiving more than ₦48 billion in FAAC allocations between January and March 2026, a primary healthcare centre in Suleja has reportedly been left in a poor condition, raising concerns over healthcare delivery in Niger State.

Niger State reportedly received over ₦48 billion in Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) funds between January and March 2026, yet the condition of a primary healthcare facility in Suleja has raised concerns over the state of grassroots healthcare delivery.

According to a report by Sahara Reporters, Kwamba Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State is operating in poor conditions, with patients reportedly being treated on worn-out and torn mattresses.

The report highlighted the contrast between the substantial allocation received by the state and the condition of the healthcare facility, where basic infrastructure and equipment are reportedly inadequate.

Kwamba PHC serves residents of the community and surrounding areas, making the reported state of the facility a concern for patients who rely on public healthcare services.

The situation has also renewed questions about the management and utilisation of public funds, particularly resources expected to support essential services such as healthcare at the grassroots.

While FAAC allocations provide governments with funds to deliver public services and execute development projects, residents and stakeholders continue to call for greater transparency, accountability and visible improvements in critical sectors.

The reported condition of Kwamba PHC underscores wider concerns about the state of primary healthcare facilities in parts of Nigeria, where inadequate infrastructure and equipment can affect the quality of healthcare available to residents.

The development has consequently raised calls for the relevant authorities to assess the facility and take necessary steps to provide a safer and more conducive environment for patients and healthcare workers.
