FCT Abuja Communities Appeal for Bridge Construction as Flood Cuts Off their Access Road

Abuja Residents of the Piko and Panda communities have appealed to the government for the urgent construction of a bridge along a major access road linking their communities to Shere and Mpape in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In a post shared on Facebook, community members described the road as a vital route used daily by traders, farmers, workers, students, and other residents. They said the road becomes nearly impassable during the rainy season, making movement difficult and disrupting economic activities, education, and access to essential services.

According to the residents, students are among those most affected, as many are unable to get to school whenever heavy rainfall cuts off access to the affected communities.

The community has called on the Bwari Area Council, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), and other relevant authorities to urgently intervene by constructing a bridge that will ensure safe and reliable access throughout the year.

The intervention would bring lasting relief to the affected communities and end the annual hardship experienced during the rainy season.

Abuja Affairs will continue to monitor developments on this story.
