Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume has expressed deep concern following fresh attacks by Boko Haram terrorists across several communities in Borno South.

According to the senator, the insurgents struck Kwam village, near the Dille community in Askira-Uba, where four farmers were brutally murdered while harvesting their crops. The renewed wave of violence has heightened fears among rural residents who rely heavily on farming for survival.

In another incident, the terrorists invaded Pemi community in Chibok LGA, where they set a church and other structures ablaze, forcing residents to flee into surrounding bushes for safety.

Ndume further disclosed that the insurgents also attempted an incursion into Shikarkir community, prompting urgent calls for enhanced military presence.

Senator Ndume urged the Nigerian military, particularly the Army leadership and Operation Hadin Kai, to reinforce security patrols across vulnerable communities in Borno South. He warned that inconsistent security coverage was leaving farming villages exposed to attacks, especially at peak harvest periods.

While commending the Borno State Government and local security formations for ongoing efforts, Ndume emphasized that more decisive action was urgently needed to prevent further loss of lives and property.

The latest attacks have triggered fear among farmers who now worry about returning to their farmlands. With the region already battling food insecurity, the killing of farmers and destruction of infrastructure could worsen humanitarian conditions.

Local leaders and residents have appealed for immediate intervention to restore confidence and allow normal activities to resume.
